Constituency

Kayan's members, and the women that it works with, are mainly from the northern region, and includes some women from the center and the south as well. The active members of Kayan are women in their 20's and 30's.
Kayan's constituency, the women in its educational and empowerment courses and community activist groups, are urban and rural, of all ages, with differing educational backgrounds, from those unable to read, to those with university degrees. Kayan reflects the voices of Palestinian women in Israel, women who are themselves a severely marginalized community. Activists and grassroots women represent much of the diversity in the Palestinian population, in terms of age, religious beliefs, level of religious observance, personal status, political attitudes and socio-economic background.
