Childcare Workers Project

Kayan is known for its precedent setting work, uncovering and responding to the needs of over 1,300 childcare workers who were being exploited by local authorities, unpaid for their work as essential childcare providers in their homes, in communities across Israel from Beit Jan to Rahat. Kayan organized the first national Childcare workers conference in 2003, with 450 women attending. Currently, the project has an active steering committee, and is working to empower the women to form a national professional association.
